A community hero is an individual that goes above and beyond to show kindness or perform a selfless act in their neighborhood, town, city, or region. They may be first responders that volunteer to support their community during disasters, teachers who tirelessly work in their classrooms, or a local shop owner who works to help their neighbors. Their shared spirit reflects the collective heartbeat of a community that thrives on connection, resilience and the joy of giving back.
Throughout the year, Little League International will honor many of these individuals on our social media platforms and in-game recognition. In addition, a small number of individuals will be recognized as Community Heroes of the Year at the Little League World Series.

In partnership with Photoville, a platform that amplifies visual storytellers through activating public space, this community organizing and public art project celebrates everyday heroes in New York City — neighborhood by neighborhood. Local photographers took portraits of community members who are dedicated to strengthening their communities, and each photo was accompanied by writing about the heroism they embody.
The exhibition was installed at St. Andrew’s Playground in Bedford Stuyvesant and Crown Heights, Brooklyn in 2021.
