The latest developments in the conflict in the Middle East continue to steal global attention with complex dynamics. One of the main focuses is tensions between Israel and Palestine. Since the beginning of 2023, there has been an increase in attacks and retaliation in Gaza which resulted in many casualties, both Israeli and Palestinian. This was triggered by rocket attacks by the Hamas group to which the Israeli military responded with intensive air strikes. The UN noted a surge in the number of refugees continuing to increase in the Gaza region due to this crisis. Meanwhile, in Syria, conflict continues despite efforts to achieve peace. President Bashar al-Assad’s power is getting stronger after support from Russia and Iran. However, opposition groups are still fighting, and northern Syria, especially Kurdish-controlled areas, continues to be a source of tension. Türkiye, worried about the presence of Kurdish groups, carried out cross-border attacks which added to the complexity of the situation there. In Yemen, the civil war that has been going on for more than seven years is also showing new developments. A ceasefire agreement brokered by the UN is starting to provide hope, but violations continue to occur from all sides. Attacks on oil facilities by the Houthi group show that tensions are still high and the country’s economy is completely destroyed. Humanitarian assistance is urgently needed, but access remains limited due to instability. Iran and Saudi Arabia, the two main powers in the region, are engaged in an increasingly intense rivalry. Despite progress in dialogue between the two countries, tensions in regions such as Lebanon and Iraq continue to rise. Hezbollah in Lebanon remains a threat to Israel, and Iran’s influence in Iraq calls into question the stability of the current government. While these conflicts are ongoing, global roles such as the United States and China are increasingly in demand. The US shows its support for Israel, while China tries to build good relations with Arab countries to expand its influence. Diplomacy in the international arena may determine the direction of the solution to these serious conflicts. Political uncertainty, a weak economy and humanitarian problems make the conflict resolution process increasingly complicated. Infrastructure development in affected countries may also be hampered if there is no stability. Analysis shows that without appropriate intervention, the situation in the Middle East is likely to worsen and increase suffering for the billions of people living there.
