Transport update is an essential part of public transportation systems, as it helps commuters to stay informed about disruptions and delays that might affect their routes. Commuters can follow government transport update websites or download mobile applications that offer comprehensive information and user-friendly interfaces, as well as immediate updates and notifications about changes to routes and schedules. Transport update also helps to reduce traffic congestion in urban areas and promote sustainable modes of transport, such as bicycles and electric vehicles.
During the transport update, you can provide the Software Update Manager with a transport buffer file. This file contains all transports that are in the import queue for the system you want to upgrade and use extended transport control. You can use the dialog in phase BIND_PATCH to specify the path and name of the transport buffer file. You can also define in this dialog if SUM should create transport profile versions automatically during the import. This option can prolong the update duration and require more resources in the SAP Solution Manager system.
Before you perform a transport update, you must put the compute cluster and the ESXi host that contains the Transport Node (TN) into maintenance mode. This is because an NSX update might change configurations that are already applied to the TN. If you have a TN with VMK migration specified, you can still apply an update to the TN, but any configurations that are changed by an NSX update might not work properly on the TN.
